Louise French, also known as Loulight, is a singer/songwriter from Ferndown, Dorset, UK. With a raw and vulnerable persona, her songs offer hope and uplifting perspectives on relatable subjects, sometimes carrying personal messages or telling the stories of others.
Loulight’s musical journey began in her early teens, singing her self penned songs into a tape recorder, and blossomed when she learned to play acoustic guitar at 17. Guided by her inspiration & feelings, she weaves melodies and lyrics together, creating a tapestry of rich compositions reflecting the various shades of love. Her music touches the hearts of listeners, portraying a childlike perception that illuminates the darkness.
After leaving school, she landed a role as a Junior Secretary at The Music Publishers’ Association. Bruce Welch from The Shadows and renowned songwriter Roger Greenaway were a few of the members on the committees that she was privileged to have contact with. However, the daily 9-to-5 routine stifled her creative energy, and it wasn’t until the late ’80s, during a year-long break from work, that she reignited her passion for songwriting. Loulight wrote songs for a Spiritual Group, inspiring and uplifting audiences with her performances. Her dedication to her craft eventually led her to Abbey Road Studios in October 2022, where she recorded three of her songs.
Drawing inspiration from the iconic music of the late ’60s and ’70s, including The Carpenters, Bread, Elton John, Beatles, Jim Croce, and Neil Sedaka, Loulight blends elements of soft rock/pop, country, and folk into her own unique sound.
Loulight’s musical journey took a pause during the ’80s, but she returned to songwriting during recent years. She found solace and inspiration in the age positive community of Talent Is Timeless, where she collaborated with fellow songwriters and honed her craft through online open mics and workshops. In 2022, Loulight’s talent led her to the renowned Abbey Road Studios, where she recorded three of her songs.
Currently, Loulight is unveiling her debut single, “Wouldn’t It Be Cool?”. This lighthearted love song offers a humorous perspective, capturing the essence of her musical expression. Louise French has come full circle, rediscovering her first love for music—a profound, rewarding, and everlasting passion. Loulight’s journey has only just begun
